If only there were more time in the day I would feel like there was much more time to get on her and blog. However, there's not so I will continue to blog as much as I can.
I love our little blocksborough. It to me is a great idea for any classroom. I would love to start it at the beginning of the trip, and then continue it all week. I think the opportunities are endless with ways to use it in the classroom. I wish there was a children's book that could express the idea of blockborough. Then it would transition perfectly. But by participating in the town the children do not even realize that theyare learning geography and the way the society works. I love how social studies can be fun and I do not understand how this was not happening when we were all in classes.
So yay for activities that do make learning fun and exciting for students!!!
You said you wished there was a children's book about Blocksborough?!? Wouldn't it be so neat for the kids to make their own after they've been through it? (using our excellent bookmaking skills we learned with Dr. Dwyer and Dr. Perry ;) And you can have your first year kids make it and then share it with all the classes that come after... :)
